Jack Huczek and Aimee Ruiz Look To Defend National Titles

Once again the country's best racquetball players will be at Downtown YMCA, May 26-31 2010, in Houston, TX to compete in the 2010 USA Racquetball National Singles Raquetball Championships presented by Head/Penn Racquet Sports. The “Finals” is the only national championship for singles competition in open, skill, age group divisions and the newly added National Military Championships. This will unite the men and women of the armed forces to compete for National titles.
On top of a full week’s worth of play in the largest event in racquetball, players also enjoy special activities all week long. Over 500 players will compete for the right to be named "National Champion" in 70+ divisions separated by age, skill, and age-skill.
In addition, semi-finalists in the Men's and Women's National Team Qualifier Divisions earn one year appointments to the U.S. National Team. In last years final of the Men's U.S. Team Qualifier division, Jack Huczek defeated Rocky Carson, 7-15, 15-9, 11-10. The Women's U.S. Team final ended with Aimee Ruiz defeating Cheryl Gudinas, 15-5, 15-7. Both Huczek and Ruiz are looking to defend their championship again this year.

Did You Know

ProPenn Racquetball • In 1983, the Houston Downtown YMCA was selected as the site for the USA Racquetball National Singles Championships and has been the host site for 28 consecutive years.

• In 1968, Bill Schultze defeated Bill Schmidtke 21-18 in a tie-breaker to win the first US National Singles Racquetball Championships in Milwaukee, WI.

The Annual Awards Banquet and Hall of Fame Ceremony on Saturday night will have a Texas theme so please wear your favorite country/western attire. We encourage everyone to join us by wearing their favorite Cowboy Hat, Cowboy Boots and Jeans. Ya'll come out and have a good time as we say farewell to Texas.

Reminder: Don't forget the event runs Wednesday through Monday. Division finals will take place on Monday (with the exception of the Mens and Womens U.S. Team Qualifying divisions, scheduled for Sunday). If your plan is to reach the finals make sure to plan your return flight for Memorial Day, Monday -- May 31.
