The IRF 22nd World Junior Racquetball Championships concluded at the Spectrum Athletic Club in Canoga Park, CA as over 300 of the best junor racquetball players from across the world gathered to compete for individual and team medals. The event kicked-off with an opening ceremony that represented 17 countries and symbolized the tradition of international competition.
Junior Team USA, successfully defended their Boy's and Girl's World Cup and the Overall World Cup team competiton successfully. Team USA has won the overall team title in 2009 and 2008.
Team USA's Taylor Knoth, Marco Rojas, Jose Diaz, Bradley Kirch and Nick Montalbanoled the way in the Boy's singles and doubles World Cup divisions. Fellow team members Aubrey O'Brien andDanielle Key led the way in the Girl's singles and doubles World Cup divisions. Players in the Challenger Cup and Esprit Cup divisions also contributed to the overall Team World Cup as Justus Benson, Rebecca Nielsen, Valentina Eguiza, Jordan Barth, Miguel Rodriguez and Lexi York won gold in those divisions.
Congratulations to all of the member of Team USA--players, coaches, assistant coaches and trainers, especially Joyce, the unsung hero who took care of the players to overcome injury.
